Brok grew up in an orc settlement in the wild and uncivilised land of Numeria. His family were thieves and Brok was expected to follow in their less than illustrious footsteps. As Brok began to grow and mature he found that his talents lay in his strength of arms and toughness. After taking part in some successful raids against other tribes, a seer picked Brok out as a ‘champion of Goram’. Brok was encouraged to indulge in his savage orc heritage to give him strength and ferocity in battle. It wasn’t long before the tribe’s chief chose Brok as her champion and used him to represent the tribe in trial by combat to settle disputes with other barbarian tribes & settlements.
Enemies of the tribe eventually found a way to defeat Brok, they threatened his family and forced him to betray his own tribe by stealing his tribe’s sacred artefact. Brok reluctantly completed his task but it did not save the lives of his parents as they were blamed for the theft and put to death by the tribe’s chief. Brok would have joined them in death but the chief decided to exile her former champion instead. Brok’s face was branded so he could not hide his betrayal and he was banished from the land, never to return upon pain of death.
